Has anyone here had experience with an endodontist specialist?

I’ve been reading about how endodontists handle problems such as persistent tooth pain, infections, complicated root canals, and teeth that have not healed properly after previous treatment. It seems that a general dentist may refer a patient to an endodontist when a case is more complex.

For those who have seen one, what was the reason for your referral? Did you notice a difference in the diagnosis or treatment? And was the experience different from having a root canal with a general dentist?

I’d be interested to hear other people’s experiences and opinions.
